Yes, we have realized how "they" got it all so wrong. Result? We are cast out. Although I have grown emotionally and get what's going on, nevertheless, it hurts that all my efforts to reach out to loved ones are ignored.

While I was watching a program on islands of the Pacific Ocean, the three largest islands in the world were mentioned. Little have I ever thought of Greenland, the largest island in the world. I decided to learn a little more about this arctic hunk of frozen land, which had no relevance to the program on tropical paradise other than it's an island.

The inuit people live off the land and sea but have been uprooted because the government can't subsidize all the tiny villages. The displaced citizens are moved to tenements in the cities. For more than 30 years, the suicide rate in Greenland has been among the highest in the world, mostly among young men, often in "cluster suicides." They are removed from the work and customs of their fathers and grandfathers. Joblessness and drinking are pervasive.

Because there are so few professional mental health workers available and travel is difficult and expensive, some concerned but untrained citizens have volunteered their time and energy to help with suicide hotlines. It is heartrending, the loss of young lives, whether by another's hand or by one's own.

I wind my way down an endless tract of land; I have no intent but to take my mind off the numbness of endless inactivity. What landmarks could lead me home dissolve as vapor under a bIazing sun. Sights and sounds that once held me in their thrall fall upon jaded senses.

That old sense of adventure vacates a mind and a heart once filled with wonder over Nature's colors, textures, the highs and lows populating Earth and Sky.

Yet, nothing is lost. No, nothing important. Mother Nature has no concern for my paltry love and hate, my joy and despair. She moves forward and carries me gently along; and I gratefully accede to her reawakening of my languishing spirit.

Thanks for what you wrote, sparky; while I never quite thought of any subset classification of anointed, what I hightlighted above (in bold) makes sense. What a difference four decades can make!

Since all of this is fantasy, does it really need to make any sense?!?!?!?

Yet each individual who claims such "a personal experience with Christ" (to use their terminology) is utterly convinced [bold added] that he or she has been personally touched by Christ. Emotion trumps reason. -- steve2

When I was of the anointed -- briefly -- it was a conviction borne of both an emotional connection to "Abba" and his children (my older anointed friends) and an intellectual realization that "THE TRUTH" was the only means by which the highest level of spirituality might be achieved. This conviction had its conception while I was at Bethel and was summarily quashed. After the death of my dream of life in heaven, I was all right with being a spiritually minded Jonadab.

Youthful idealism, coupled with the absolute certainty that God is personally guiding one towards a glorious and supernal destination, trumps all commonplace goals, those entertained by mere mortals.

Now, I'm awake, realistic, and very happy without the fantasies that once occupied my vulnerable heart and mind.
